RigExpert analysers

1 minute read

Some time ago I bought a Rig Expert AA-650 Zoom antenna analyser. These are made in Ukraine and are very well specified for the price though still hardly a cheap item. Its test results appear regularly on this website.

Despite only light usage the keyboard has developed a fault: the ‘up arrow’ button has stopped working. In a largely menu-driven user interface this is obviously something of a problem though there are a few possible, though clumsy, workarounds allowing at least some basic functions still to be used.

Rig Expert are represented in the UK by Messrs. Moonraker who seemed rather surprised to be contacted about servicing this product. They told me that if Rig Expert themselves offered a ‘fix’ for this problem they would be happy to apply it to my unit.

Rather unsurprisingly given the current circumstances in Kiev where the factory is no e-mail to Rig Expert has yet received a reply. When I first bought the unit they were very helpful with technical enquiries so I am forced to conclude that for the time being at least they are owing to force majeure unable to provide customer support.

Whether or not one is at all involved with the political situation in Ukraine one ought to be aware of this position should one be considering buying one of these instruments.
