Friday Fireworks
A week ago last Friday Matt M9MIM suggested that all we had to do was to get the sheep out of the field and we could have a firework display.
Sure enough he did get the two old rams moved away and a modest firework display was duly organised for the following Friday, which was the 6th November.
Chaz G6UVO’s birthday is on the 5th of November so he is naturally a tiresome expert on the pyrotechnic arts and was allowed to take charge, other contributors including Petra M7PAH, Gary Tor Kid and Steve M8OSS with Ed M7EVM very kindly performing a fish and chip run in his now no longer quite so new car. Dave M3MYM and John G8VZA made sure that the young people didn’t get too excited and out of hand.
The newly painted hut has been re-lit and is now very bright, so we actually switched off the 12V lights leaving only two mock-fluorescents running on the generator. M9MIM is thinking of installing some more subtle lighting as well.
We were sort of expecting some other people as well as our usual crowd but nobody having appeared by 1900 we went ahead, G6UVO and M8OSS firing.
Only one firework malfunctioned, a small rocket which firmly resisted ignition and still wouldn’t go off even when later put in the traditional oil drum brazier (nose down, naturally).
Someone had brought some sparklers and M7PAH even remembered to fetch them out and light them. The last one finished just as it started to rain.
A jolly good time having been had by all we left M9MIM with the traditional firework mess, now wet, and went home.
