the state of the shack - it’s worse than that
On further investigation it’s worse than we thought
Yesterday (Friday 18 September) M7PAH, M9MIM and G6UVO removed almost all of the wet carpet tiles from the floor, which is plywood over steel, leaving the hut interior sticky and smelly.

Alas much of the wooden floor is badly damaged by water and in at least one place, just inside the door (where the rain blows in) the steel floor underneath it has quite rusted away leaving the scalpings on which the hut stands visible from inside.

The state of the hut is such that it seems likely to cost almost as much to repair and renovate as it would to provide a whole new hut, and this is being investigated as an option.
As the shack seems likely to be unavailable for some time the Club will concentrate on developing the new facility and on /M and /P operations, and on admin and housekeeping tasks. The organisers of Blue Ham have been told that we are unable to support the exercise in October but hope to be ready for the next one.
