Christmas Eve with SAQ at 8 am

1 minute read

SAQ came up this morning sending out a Christmas Eve message on their VLF frequency of 17.2kHz The signal was received quite clearly.

An 8kHz sampled copy of the audio signal from the 08:00 transmission received indoors in Glastonbury

This was received inside the house, given the cold and early-ish start ;) using a similar rig to last time, using SAQrx to record the raw RF signal sampled at 96kHz, then passing this through Spectrum Lab for better selectivity and impulse noise handling. The ferrite rod is longer than last time, I discoverd the hard way that longer rods are more fragile so I store this on in some foam pipe lagging.

Christmas Message

I had to cheat as my morse has no hope… message follows
