Halloween Activation of Glastonbury Tor for HEMA

less than 1 minute read

Mike 2E0RWW activated Glastonbury Tor this Halloween. The Tor is our local HEMA summit, designated G/HSC-006 in HEMA

The Tor was very busy on Halloween, so Mike chose not to deploy the 20m antenna, but used a FT7800 2m mobile and a homebrew 2m Yagi using steel tape measure elements constructed by G6UVO.

Glastonbury Tor is a popular tourist attraction

2E0RWW worked five stations, three members of IoAARC who were in the town, and Rob GW0WLQ in Barry (south Wales) to get four contacts and an activation. Mobile station 2E0ZYZ was on the M5 between Weston-Super-Mare and Bridgwater for a extra fifth contact making this a successful 2m activation. Most of the contacts were around 12:30 UTC

Conclusion

This was a successful activation, somewhat better equipped than the last IoAARC activation of the Tor in the summer with just a Kenwood TH7DE handheld.
